Equipment

  • Oven
  • Rolling Pin
  • Pizza stone or baking sheet
  • Pizza Cutter
  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet instant yeast about 2 ¼ teaspoons
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • Pepperoni slices optional
  • Dried oregano and basil for seasoning

Instructions

  • Make the Dough: In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Combine warm water and olive oil, stirring until it forms a cohesive dough. Knead for 6-8 minutes until smooth.
  • Let it Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
  • Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well.
  • Shape the Pizza: Roll the dough out on a floured surface to your desired thickness, then transfer to a pizza peel sprinkled with cornmeal or a lined baking sheet.
  • Add Toppings: Spread pizza sauce evenly over the dough, then sprinkle with mozzarella and parmesan cheeses. Add pepperoni if using, and season with herbs.
  • Cooking instructions: Place in a preheated oven and cook for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust turns a golden brown and the cheese bubbles.
  • To serve: Take the pizza out of the oven, cut into slices, and enjoy while warm.

Notes

  • Dough Consistency: Ensure the pizza dough is neither too sticky nor too dry for the best texture.
  • Preheat Your Stone: A pizza stone helps achieve a crisper crust, so give it enough time to heat up.
  • Even Spreading: Distribute sauce and toppings evenly to ensure every bite is flavorful.
  • Experiment with Cheese: Mixing different types of cheese can enhance the flavor.
  • Watch the Oven: Due to high heat, keep an eye on your pizza to prevent overcooking.
