  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Whisk flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt.
  • Beat sugars and melted butter until smooth.
  • Add eggs and vanilla. Mix until creamy.
  • Slowly add dry mix to wet mix.
  • Stir in chocolate chips by hand.
  • Chill dough in fridge for 30 minutes.
  • Scoop dough into small balls.
  • Step 10: Roll each ball in powdered sugar.
  • Step 11: Place on baking sheet, 2 inches apart.
  • Step 12: Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
  • Step 13: Let cool on pan for 5 minutes.
  • Step 14: Transfer to cooling rack to finish cooling.

Notes

    • Chill dough before rolling—it keeps cookies from spreading.
    • Roll dough balls thick for extra fudgy centers.
    • Don’t overbake—they firm up while cooling.
    • Use dark cocoa for a richer chocolate flavor.
    • Powdered sugar coating should be thick for better crinkles.
    • Add a pinch of espresso powder to boost chocolate.
    • Let cookies rest overnight for deeper flavor.
