Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/3 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 sheet nori seaweed
  • 1/2 avocado sliced
  • 1 imitation crab stick shredded
  • 2 tbsp Japanese mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Sriracha sauce
  • 1/2 cup tempura flakes
  • Soy sauce for dipping
  • Sesame seeds optional
  • Cucumber strips optional

Instructions
 

  • Cook the sushi rice. Let it cool.
  • Mix vinegar, sugar, salt into rice. Stir well.
  • Lay plastic wrap on bamboo mat. Place nori.
  • Spread rice on nori. Press it gently.
  • Flip the nori so rice faces down.
  • Add crab mix, avocado, and cucumber inside.
  • Roll tightly using the bamboo mat.
  • Roll again to secure the shape.
  • Toast tempura flakes in a skillet briefly.
  • Spread spicy mayo over the roll top.
  • Press toasted flakes gently on top.
  • Slice roll using a wet sharp knife.
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds if desired. Serve with soy sauce.

Notes

  1. Always wet your hands to handle sushi rice.
  2. Don’t overfill the roll. It may break apart.
  3. Use a very sharp knife for clean slices.
  4. Wrap bamboo mat in plastic for easy rolling.
  5. Chill the roll slightly before slicing for firmness.
  6. You can add cream cheese for extra richness.
  7. Toast flakes lightly to enhance their crispiness.
